{"id":10087,"date":"2025-11-24T12:44:30","date_gmt":"2025-11-24T12:44:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/foundationsforfarming.org.zw\/?page_id=10087"},"modified":"2025-11-27T13:02:23","modified_gmt":"2025-11-27T13:02:23","slug":"pfumvudza-4","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/foundationsforfarming.org.zw\/?page_id=10087","title":{"rendered":"Pfumvudza 4"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #008000;\">God\u2019s Model for Food Security: Feeding a Family God\u2019s Way<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Pfumvudza is a simple model from the Lord that provides enough food to feed a family for a whole year \u2014 using only a small portion of land and faithful management.<br \/>\nIt was first tested with maize, producing a bucket of maize per week for an entire year. Amazingly, when the same size plot was used for other staple crops such as sorghum, sugar beans, sunflower, groundnuts and upland rice, the result was the same \u2014 enough to feed a family for the year!<\/p>\n<p>Pfumvudza teaches that a family can be totally food secure by planting one plot for each food group they need \u2014 Protein, Starch and Oil. A fourth plot is then used to grow a cover crop that restores fertility and provides mulch for the other three.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>The Four Plots for Food Abundance<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Protein Plot \u2013 Sugar Beans, Soya Beans, Groundnuts or Cowpeas<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>A Pfumvudza plot of sugar beans will produce at least 7 cups of beans per row \u2014 that\u2019s a cup a day for the entire year! Each row gives about 3 kg of seed, enough to press 1 litre of oil per week for the year.
